9.      Capability to do the job and adhering to the Rugby Clubs Players Code of Conduct

MOVEMENT BETWEEN THE GRADES

A player can be selected in any higher grade as long as the player has played at some level for the club this season. This means in effect that a player who has played twenty minutes for  fifth grade or higher is eligible to play for the first grade side. If a suitability trained club player is not available in extreme cases, a new player can also be selected in any grade with exception of the first grade side (safety being the exception e.g. front row).

A player who is “dropped” (demoted) can only be dropped one grade from one match to the next match. The only exceptions being discipline reasons such as non attendance at training and matches without prior notice to either a coach or manager. Breach of the player’s code of conduct could also result in a player being dropped more than one grade.

A player returning from injury will be selected as long as the    club physiotherapists or health professionals are satisfied with the player’s level of fitness. Depending on the amount of time the injured player has been absent & other club player’s form and club injury levels, the return grade a player can be selected in will generally be on the reserve bench of the grade previously played before injury or selected in the grade below. EG: 1st Grade, return grade will be either bench for 1st or 2nds or the starting team for 2nd grade. The period of absence & inability to train will be a factor with selection.

PLAYER FEED BACK

If you are unhappy with your selection then your grade coach/captain/manager or club captains or director of rugby will be available to give you constructive feed back.

URGENT REMINDER!!

1.      Put disappointment in perspective

2.      Mistakes can be made

3.      Decisions are never personal

4.      Ask the selectors and coaching staff what areas of your play needs improvement, so you will have a better opportunity to be selected in the grade you think you are best suited to or in that position you want to be chosen in.
